Athlete of the Month Award- Sponsored by Sweatshop Brierley Hill

Awarded for the outstanding Athletic Performance of the Month.

Athlete of the Month for September is Jamie Wilkes..

At the H of E league Jamie set a new PB and club record in the 100m with 11.7. He also won the 200 in 24.1 and Long Jump with 4.94m. Both the 100 and 200, being Grade 1 performances...

Coaches and Team Managers please nominate any athlete who you feel should get the Athlete of the Month Award.  Barbara has the forms.. 

 
 

Christmas Handicap Run is on the 28th December 2008.

A Fun Event for ALL club members.

On a traffic free Out and Back course along the Railway Walk from Lower Penn to Wombourne.

1.6km for younger members and 5km for the older athletes..

Senior Men finish 6th team after the opening Birmingham League Division 2 race at Senneleys Park..

Ian Furness recently selected to run for the England Masters team at Swansea led DASH home in an excellent 5th place. Good support from Paul Waby 13th and Lee Slater 20th gave the team a great start to the season. other places on results page. 

 
Good turnout at the opening WMYACC League at Pype Hayes on 12 Oct, with Jordan Smith running his first cross country race finishing 4th in the Under 15 race.    Results to follow.....

Senior Men's Team finish 52nd from 80 teams in the Midland 6 stage Road Relay at Sutton Park.

Ian Furness led off with 19min 26sec, Lee Slater 20.41, Dave Nation 21.57, Mark Staves 23.18, Eric Smith 22.43 and Ivan Dawes 23.32.

 
Thanks to all those who made the Final Heart of England meeting at the DELL such a success.. It was great to have a home meeting at last, with the team finishing an excellent second on the day.

James Wilkes and Adam Foxall, completed a treble of wins, both taking the 100,200 and long jump. In the 100 James set a new U/15 club record of 11.7 and Adam a PB of 11.4. Double wins from Emily Horne, Emma Goulding, Joe Smith and Asley Raybold set the team on the way.

Well Done to team managers Fran and Dave.

DASH relegated from Div 3 in the Midland Track and Field League...
 
Nancy Hitchmough wins the W55 800 and 1500 in 2.37.3 and 5.17.3, at the National Masters Champs, with Eric Horwill taking the M75 5k walk and 2nd in the M75 3k walk.
 
UKA Young Athletes League at Leicester on 22nd June

Jordan Smith U/15 running his first 1500m race won with 4m37s(G3) and also winning the 200 in 25.9(G4). Nigel Wood U/17 knocked 0.9sec off his 200pb with 25.5 and Bradley Sibley U/13 ran an excellent 1500 coming 2nd in 5.15 (G4). The Under 15 Boys ran well in both relays with a close 2nd in the 4x100 and winning the 4x400.

Adele Reynolds U/17came 2nd with pb's of 12.8 (G3) and 54.9 in the 80m and 300m Hurdles. Another athlete setting pb's was Emily Horne U/13 winning her long jump with 4.35m a Grade 1, and a great performance, she also finishing 2nd in the 150m in 22.1sec (G4). Jenny Smith U/13 continued her good season by coming 2nd in the 70m Hurdles iwith 13.3 sec, only 1 tenth of a grade 2 standard. The Under 17 women kept up the clubs good form in the relays with 2nd in the 4x100 and winning the 4x300m.

1st UK Young Athletes League  at Corby 4th May

No results yet but some good performances as Jamie Wilkes in his first track race won the U/15 100 in 12.0 (G2), Adam Foxall won the U/17 100 and 200 with 11.5 and 23.2 a PB and both G2's. Jordan Smith won both his U/15 events the 400 in 56.2 and 800 with 2.11.2 (G2). For the ladies Kirstie Overfield did  the 100/200 double with 12.9 and 26.3(G2) and Sophie Horne came 2nd in the U/17 300m with 44.0(G3), a great performance considering she broke her leg last October.

 
In the first combined Midland League the club finished in 4th place due to some excellent performances in the field.

Richard Woodall scored valuable points with 2 firsts and a second with good support from Dave Sharp. For the ladies Alison Tolley won 2 events with Ann Marie Walton taking first in 3 events. Vicky Baggott with 6 events scored valuable points.....See results page...

 
The Walks section have had some good results on the road....

Victoria Park London was the venue for the RWA Young Athletes Championships where Charlotte Knott finished 2nd in the U/11 1k with a PB of 6m46s. Earlier in the season at the Jeff  Ford Open at Sheffield on 19th April Callum Elcock set a PB in the U/15 3K for 5th in 19m 37s.while Eric Horwill recorded a Club Best M75 with 70m 50s for the 10k.

Midland 6 Stage Masters Road Relay at Sutton Park on 5th April.

Ian Furness gave the club a flying start with 2nd place on the opening 5.3 mile long leg in 27min 53 sec. Mark Staves back from injury ran 19.17 for the shorter 3.2 mile short leg, handing over to Eric Smith who ran the fastest short leg time for the club with 18.20. Dave Eades ran the next long leg in 37.47, with Fred Homer and Ivan Dawes bringing the team home on the final 2 short legs with 20.02 and 18.28. Final team positions are not known yet. We only had 3 runners in the senior race with Jim Brown running 39.23 for the long leg, Lee Slater 17.39 and Dave Nation 17.39 completing the depleted team.

 
DASH younger cross country runners finished a very creditable 13th overall from the 20 teams competing in the WMYA CC League.

Good runs from Danielle Bradburn 16th in the U/11 Girls and Ben Lamming in the U/15 Boys taking 20th place. Special mention of Aimee Seddon in the U/17 Girls to finish 12th in her first race for the club. Well done to all who raced over the season

 
Paul Waby takes 4th place in the Action Heart 5mile Road Race and first O40 vet with a time of 27min 45sec. Amanda Dipple was 2nd Lady in 37th place in 31.43.

Dave Nation finished in 23rd with 30.42, Eric Smith 44th in 32.14 and Jim Brown 139th with 37.01. All running faster than last year. Well Done.

 
Ian Furness with a 5th place in the final Birmingham League race was equal 3rd overall in the individual awards. With team finishing 10th on the day to remain in Division 2.
 
DASH senior men continue to pull clear of relegation in Div 2 of the Birmingham League.

Ian Furness had another fantastic run this time finishing in 3rd place!!! and with Paul Waby also improving to 16th, the team got of to a flying start. Lee Slater made a welcome return in 47th, with Dave Nation showing solid form for 73rd. Fred Homer and Dave Eades completed the team in 146th and 158th with Jim Brown as back up in 185th. This puts DASH 700 pts clear of the team below.

 
DASH Athletes win Gold at the Worcester CC Champs on 5th Jan.

In the joint U/20 and Senior Ladies race, Tessa Parkinson won the overall race and 1st U/20 with Amanda Dipple finishing second in the race and taking the Senior Ladies Gold medal.
